This plant has amazed us...once again!
Last night, I started smelling something very fragrant, like a strong oil coming from an air freshener...but very distinct if you've ever smelled it before. So I immediately ran to one of my corn plants in the family room to see if it had bloomed. It hadn't. So I didn't think anything more of it, figured it was a new scented oil warmer.
Then today when I got home from work, I smelled it again. So I went looking and sure enough, my corn plant in my front room had bloomed again!!! Now this wouldn't usually be that big of a deal, but for us, it is. See, the first and last time this plant had bloomed was when I was pregnant with Conner! So I just find it really really odd that here I am 5 years later, pregnant with baby #2 and the thing blooms!
Boy does it smell pretty though!!!
I found out that its true plant name, other than the commonly called corn plant, is dracaena fragrans. And I think that certainly is an appropriate name!
My plant this time around:
And my last post about the corn plant, almost 5 years to the day, 11/29/05:
